Photogrammetry, LiDAR laser scanning and geometric analysis for tunnels

The analysis combines 3D geometry from photogrammetry, LiDAR laser scanning or other compatible point clouds with engineering references to build comparable as-built and design profiles, review deviations by chainage (PK) and generate traceable technical results.

Compatible 3D sources: Photogrammetry · LiDAR laser scanning · Point clouds · 3D models

Dashboard = a dynamic tracking view. Management Report = an executive snapshot for formal communication. Both use the same validated technical information.

Innovation connects geometry to the executive view

Geometry from photogrammetry, LiDAR laser scanning and compatible 3D sources becomes profiles and measurements. An indicator layer organizes those results for the Dashboard and Management Report: not generic BI or an independent new measurement.

Executive Control Dashboard

Consolidate processed information to review geometric status, compare sections and explore chainage without interpreting every individual profile from scratch.

Management Report

Summarize the section status, main deviations, indicators and graphical evidence. The report preserves the analysis context and communicates approved technical conclusions to decision-makers.

Interpretation, technical approval and decisions belong to the responsible team; they are not autonomous AI decisions.

Geometry needs context

A visual model alone does not define a measurement. The CRS, alignment, chainage and design section provide the framework required to interpret each profile.

01 · Stage

3D capture

Tunnel Tools receives and analyzes geometry from photogrammetry, LiDAR laser scanning or compatible point clouds. It does not control scanner hardware; compatibility must be checked for each source and format.

02 · Stage

Point cloud or model

Geometry available in the Metashape project becomes the source for constructing and reviewing cross-sections.

03 · Stage

Coordinate reference system (CRS)

The spatial reference must be consistent with the project so positions and results can be interpreted correctly.

04 · Stage

Alignment and chainage (PK)

The alignment organizes the route; chainage identifies each analysis location along the tunnel.

05 · Stage

Design section

The design geometry provides the criterion used for comparison according to the project configuration.

06 · Stage

As-built profile

The intersection with the surveyed geometry represents the observed condition at the analyzed chainage.

Geometric comparison

From the as-built profile to a verifiable difference

The comparison represents differences between the observed cross-section and the design reference. Its validity depends on the geometry, coordinates, alignment and analysis parameters.

Cross-sectional view

Review shape, distances and areas at a specific chainage, including overbreak and underbreak.

Longitudinal view

Relate successive profiles to observe geometric behaviour along the tunnel section.

Traceability and deliverables

Results that retain their reference

Profiles and deliverables are organized with the analysis references needed for technical review, documentation and coordination across teams.

Current integration

Tunnel Tools works within Agisoft Metashape Professional 2.3.1 on projects and assets compatible with the supported workflow.

Deliverables

The current scope includes profiles, DXF, tabular data and reports for review under the applied configuration.

Required validation

Input data, CRS, design information and every result must be checked by the responsible professional before use.
